Football- IC State Practice

The countdown begins as the Brown County Hornets gear up to play in the state football game, and the excitement is clear. The team has been training hard all season, and now everything comes down to this final showdown. With their strong defense and powerful offense, the Hornets are ready to give it their all on the field. Fans are rallying behind them, knowing that this game is a chance to bring home the state championship and make history for Brown County.
We asked the 4 senior boys a series of questions revolving around the game.
When Eli Staton, number 21, was asked the question: “How does it feel knowing that you guys are the ones going down in the record book as the first Brown County team to go to state?”
He answered with “It just feels unreal knowing that we are going down in history being the first one to make it to state in the school's history. And I feel like it's even more special to us seniors because we are the ones that get to leave knowing we made history.”
Our next question we asked was “Coming into the season, what were your goals for the team? What improvements did you want to make, and what improvements do you feel that you needed to make to improve your team's performance?”
Levi Brierton, number 79, answered with “My goals for the team were to do the best we could and make it farther into the playoffs than last year. My blocking really needed improvement, and getting to the level I am now was my contribution to the team.”
We also got to speak to number 24, Trey Fullerton. We asked Trey, “How do you think you yourself improved over the season?”
His response was “Just being a leader for the team and improving vocally. Also trying to help pick people up when they need it and encouraging the underclassmen to keep their heads up.”
“This week, leading up to the State game, what has helped you get 'locked in”? Also, what are some of the emotions that have been going through your mind about how this is your final football game as a brown county hornet?” was the last question that was asked to our star quarterback Vince Little, number 3, with his answer being, “I’ve really tried to focus on the game and block out all of the distractions. To do this, I watch a lot of film and try to see how we can attack Lena-Winslow. I’ll miss playing football, but this is definitely the way I wanted to finish my career.”
Getting to talk to these boys about them making not only Brown County history but lifetime memories that they will reminisce on in the future has been nothing short of inspiring. Now, not only will your county be supporting you, but the whole WIVC conference as well! GO HORNETS!
